By parasitesdontlisten, December 26, 2011

A separation, is a 2011 Iranian drama film written and directed by Asghar Farhadi, focusing on a number of personal experiences and abstract pictures which had been in Asghar Farhadi' mind for some time.
The film focuses on the marriage of a 14-years-old married couple that are facing a difficult decision: to improve the life of their child by moving to another country or to stay in Iran and look after a deteriorating parent who has Alzheimers.
Like Farhadi's last three films (The beautiful city, Fireworks Wednesday and About Elly), "A separation" was made without any government support while the film has received the Golden Bear for Best Film and the Silver Bears for Best Actress and Best Actor at the  61st Berlin International Film Festival, becoming the first Iranian film to win the Golden Bear.

When drowning becomes art

Drowning becomes art

An underwater treasure..
By parasitesdontlisten, December 22, 2011

Artist Jason de Caires Taylor creates life-size cement sculptures of people and submerges them into the waters of South America. As time passes the sculptures become part of the underwater landscape and slowly become artificial reefs ripe with marine life. The process of experiencing artwork out of a traditional gallery and underwater is described with intimately vivid detail on his site.

Dentsu: paint sound sculptures

"Dentsu: paint sound sculptures" for Canon Pixma

Magnificent paint sound videos and stills..
By parasitesdontlisten, December 20, 2011

The creative studio dentsu, teamed up with a photographer linden gledhill to create this series of paint sculptures using sound vibrations. The series was part of a campaign for canon's pixma ink printer brand. The photographs and videos begin by wrapping a membrane around a small speaker. Ink drops were placed on this membrane and the speaker was turned on. Once it began to vibrate the ink begins to jump up and down, high-speed video cameras and still cameras were used to capture this including circling around the sculptures to see them from all angles, experimenting with different sounds and frequencies created the various pieces.

Beastie boys: "Fight for Your Right (Revisited)

30 minutes of the best video-short film ever produced..
By parasitesdontlisten, December 18, 2011

The Beastie Boys have long been on the cutting edge of pop culture and entertainment, and with their big foray into the world of film, they've put together a cast that should have Tarantino, Scorsese and Apatow drooling. And it's all for a short film.
The list of bit players is even more impressive: Rashida Jones, Will Arnett, Adam Scott, Rainn Wilson, Ted Danson, Roman Coppola, Steve Buscemi, Amy Poehler, Jason Schwartzmann, Alicia Silverstone, Laura Dern, Kirsten Dunst, Chloe Sevigny, Maya Rudolph, David Cross, and Martin Starr.
Set to coincide with the release of their long-anticipated new album, "Hot Sauce Committee Part Two," the film also features cameos from the real Beasties Adam Yauch (who directed), Adam Horovitz and Mike D. Of course, they feature as cops.

OK Go - End Love (Video)

Motion/Timelapse video

by Gunther and Lieberman

Eric is half of the dynamical musical duo gloobic and a frequent artistic collaborator with Jeff Lieberman. He has done sound design for radio and documentary film, and is a prolific musician. He has a compulsive dancing problem-elevators, bathrooms, his sleep, and an occasional music video-and wishes there were better places to go out dancing in Boston. Through his collaboration with choreographer Emily Beattie, he has become deeply interested in dance and human movement.

Jeff Lieberman explores the connections between the arts, sciences, education, passion, creativity, and the potential future of human consciousness. He hosts 'Time Warp' on the Discovery Channel, using technology to see beyond the limits of our normal human perception. He composes music in the duo gloobic, and has performed in Carnegie Hall. He shows technological sculptures around the world, to bring people an emotional and mystical connection with science and the universe.

Directors/Choreographers Eric Gunther & Jeff Lieberman collaborate for their newest stop motion / timelapse video for the track End Love.

DEADLINE 2 : Sticking Close to You

DEADLINE 2 : Sticking Close to You

We've probably watched him at his senior project at Savannah College of Art and Design, back in 2009 ("Deadline post-it stop motion"). Bang-Yao Liu, the director of this clip, is manipulating post-it notes to do pixel-like stop motion with interactions between live actors and post-its.This is the continuation of "Deadline stop motion" in 2009, only this time sticky note stop motion develops outdoors, and travels 11 cities around the world in 40 days by 2 people.
It's main purpose:
"Stop fighting with your work and deadline, let's go travel around the world!"
Enjoy!

Video: Mister Heavenly: "Bronx Sniper"

Mister Heavenly: "Bronx Sniper"

masked pranksters in "heavenly" destructive mood..
By parasitesdontlisten, December 14, 2011

Mister Heavenly is… comprised of indie rock veterans Nick Thorburn (Islands/The Unicorns), Ryan Kattner (Man Man), and Joe Plummer (Modest Mouse). Their mutual admiration society was in place before Mister Heavenly took shape. Modest Mouse and Man Man toured together repeatedly, starting in 2007. Nick and Ryan met in Philadelphia in the final days of The Unicorns, or maybe the early days of Islands. They’re not sure, but they hit it off instantly. They bonded over a lot of things—music, cough syrup, being signed to the same label—but it was one of their fundamental differences that inspired Ryan aesthetically. “I always thought that the two of our voices together would make an interesting contrast since they occupy very distinct ends of the vocal spectrum,” he says.

"Bronx Sniper" is 36-year-old Corey Adam's first attempt at directing a music video. The whole clip was shot in a soon-to-be-demolished  house in Vancouver under a shoestring budget that basically amounted to the price of a botle of tequila.
